This is my second annual report on online income. In 2009, I backed off of my use of survey sites a bit, and abandoned my short-lived interest in pay-to-click, which seemed to be a hotbed of scam sites with no real potential for earnings.
Gather continued to perform at a steady level, as did Mypoints. The new site that I received payment from was Associated Content, which amounted to pocket change, but I always choose their lowest-paying option so that I can simply reprint book reviews that I am publishing on Gather.
As I ended 2009, I have a few sites that I am either close to cashing out on or that I already have stored points on, so I'm not overly concerned that I made $80 less in '09 than in '08. I put less effort in on the survey sites, and there was also the loss of Boomertowne, which did net me $40 before it went under in '08.
Here's what I made last year (dollar values represent cash or giftcards):
$100.00 on Gather $25.00 on Mypoints $15.00 on ERewards $1.59 on Associated Content
Total for 2009: $141.59 (down from $220.00 in 2008)
As always, this does not include the sites online where I am actually selling merchandise. I sell books on half.com and Magic: The Gathering cards on Cardshark, and I sell my own comics at my site, dandelionstudios.com.
Other sites that I am currently using that have paid me in the past:
Mysurvey.com Global Opinion Surveys Clear Voice Surveys
The main reason these did not pay in 2009 was lack of time/effort to complete surveys on my part. Remarkably, becoming a parent impacts free time. :)
Sites that I am still using, but that have never made me so much as a penny:
Yuwie Inboxdollars
I repost most of my content onto Yuwie, but have never even come close to earning anything on it. The site has a generally spammy feel to it, so I have a hard time recommending it to friends.
I get "paid" emails from Inbox dollars all the time and occasionally click on them, but money accumulates so slowly on their site that I remain far from that elusive minimum payout.
Most of these sites use referral bonuses. If you're interested in hearing any more about any of these or possibly in signing up on my referral, you're welcome to contact me by private message.
I'm open to suggestions of other sites to try, but I find that my time is limited lately. You're welcome to suggest sites in the comments. I might or might not check them out.
Best of luck to everyone out there trying for a bit of extra income in 2010! |
